The main reason people don’t use a solicitor to administer an estate is how much they are going to charge. After decades of dealing with thousands of estates we have decided to simplify costs and provide a truly transparent, easy to understand cost structured. We provide guaranteed fixed fees. For more information see our Guaranteed fixed fees page.

02

We understand that it is a very hard time when a loved one dies. There will be telephone calls to be made, banks, utilities companies, insurers and the HMRC to be dealt with. People have busy lives. We can take all these stresses away from you and sort everything.

03

Most importantly, we know what we are doing. We know who needs to be contacted and how they need to be dealt with. This means that problems can be avoided and generally the estate dealt with quickly and efficiently. You will gain peace of mind that everything has been dealt with.

04

When someone dies you need to deal with formalities such as the completion of a tax return and the payment of any inheritance tax. We have extensive experience of dealing with such issues. We can make sure that nothing is missed and perhaps more importantly that the correct amount of tax is paid. We also know how to deal with HMRC and can deal with the practicalities of paying the inheritance tax within the deadlines given by HMRC. This can often be hard when there is no money available until after probate and you have to pay some or all of the tax before probate.

05

We will deal with all aspects of the probate application for you. This will include preparing the necessary inheritance tax return, preparing probate application, dealing with the Probate Registry (you won’t have to contact them at all) and dealing with any issues that might arise such as irregularities in the will.

06

During the administration of an estate we can make sure that the deceased’s house and other assets are kept in good order. We can keep utility bills paid, we can ensure that the house remains insured. We can assist with the marketing and sale of the home.

07

Most of the time beneficiaries will all get on. It is not the case that money will cause them all to fall out. However sadly there are occasions where there are tensions and fallouts between family members and other people entitled (or who think they should be entitled) to an estate. We are experienced in helping you as the executor through such difficult times. We have dealt with all types of estates and all types of dispute. The expertise we have gained over many years helps us to help you resolve matters quickly and inexpensively.

08

When someone dies their bank accounts and other investments will generally be frozen. Lay executors will often be asked to open an executor’s bank account and keep full records of all their dealings. This can be an onerous and thankless task. When we deal with things for you there will be no need to open a bank account and we will produce full accounts for you and the beneficiaries.

09

We know that what you want is to be able to get on with your lives again following a loved one’s death. Therefore our lawyers will act with speed and skill but also with sympathy to your feelings in taking the hassle away from you. Most estates should be completed, subject to the sale of any houses or other properties, within approximately 3 to 6 months.

10

We have a large department of partners, solicitors and legal executives who want to provide you with the best service possible. Not only do we want to help you through a hard time but we would hope to do such a good job that you recommend us to your friends and relatives for all their legal needs.
